The Right of Public Access (Allemansrätten)

When hiking in nature, you have the right to roam freely through forests and fields thanks to the right of public access. The right of public access gives us unique freedom, but it also comes with responsibility. It is important to show consideration for nature, wildlife, and other people.

Here are some basic rules to follow:

  • Show consideration and be careful with nature – avoid damaging plants and trees, and leave the place as you found it.
  • Take care of your trash – don't leave anything behind, but take all your waste home with you.
  • Respect animals and plant life – keep your distance from animals and close gates behind you if you pass through pastures.
  • Be careful with fire – use designated fire pits and check if there are any fire bans in place.
  • Keep in mind that the land may be privately owned – respect crops and residential areas, and be careful not to disturb or damage anything.

By following these simple guidelines, we can all continue to enjoy nature in a sustainable and respectful way.
