Smålandsleden
Smålandsleden is a collective name for a large number of hiking trails in the Småland counties of Jönköping, Kronoberg, and Kalmar.
The Småland Trail is divided into Northern (Jönköping County), Eastern (Kalmar County), and Southern (Kronoberg County) sections, offering a total of over 1,000 km of hiking along a large number of different trails divided into daily stages of varying character. You can start your hike at several different places around Småland, and you will find all trail entrances on the map.
Northern
At the northernmost tip of Småland, there is a continuous trail system of approximately 900 km. Here, you can hike short stages or several days in a row. From Värnamo, Gislaved, and Vetlanda in the southern parts, you can head towards Habo, Gränna, and Tranås in the northernmost parts.
Here you will find connections to trails in all directions, such as Hallandsleden, Västra Vätterleden, Sjuhärdasdsleden to the west, Östgötaleden to the north, and the rest of Smålandsleden to the south and east.
Eastern
The Östra Smålandsleden trail stretches along the Baltic Sea coast, from Västervik in the north to Kalmar in the south, and there is much to explore in Astrid Lindgren's hometown of Vimmerby. Enjoy the beautiful coastal landscape along the Kalmarsundsleden trail or discover Astrid Lindgren's stories along the Sevedesleden trail.
In the north, it connects to the large Östgötaled trail network and in the south to the Blekingeleden trail.
If you cross the strait to Öland, these trails are also part of the Östra Smålandsleden trail, including STF's signature trail on Alvaret.
The Östra Smålandsleden trail is under construction in Naturkartan, which means that more trails are being added on an ongoing basis.
South
Växjö is located in the middle of the southern Smålandsleden trail, and there are trails to explore in every direction. Here you will find the emigrant region that Vilhelm Moberg described in his book series. You can also connect to the northern parts via the Sigfridsleden trail, and in the southern parts you can continue hiking along the Blekingeleden and Skåneleden trails.
The southern Smålandsleden trail is currently being added to Naturkartan, which means that more trails will be presented on an ongoing basis.
The hiking trails within Smålandsleden are managed by the municipalities in each county in collaboration with the Region and County Administrative Board.
