Travel by Public Transport

Getting to the various hiking trails of Smålandsleden by public transport works well for some entrances, while others are far beyond the reach of public transport.

By using our planning tool, you can find the right public transport departure to the nearest stop for the stage you want to hike, or to the viewpoint you want to visit.

First, choose which trail and which stage you want to hike. There is always a trail entrance at the beginning and end of each stage. Choose the trail entrance where you want to start your hike.

In this example, we have chosen to hike the Kävsjölänken trail from Gnosjö to Kävsjö.

We want to start our hike in Gnosjö and walk towards Kävsjö and Store Mosse National Park. Start by searching for “Entrance” on the map. Now you can see where there is a trail entrance near the stage you want to hike.

Then select the entrance you want to start at, in this case “Töllstorp, Entrance J2/K1.”

Now click on “More” to read more about this particular entrance.

You will now see information about what is located near this entrance, as well as a button labeled “Find this location using public transport.”

Click on the “Find us by public transport” button to open the view below.

In this case, we enter that we want to travel from “Jönköping Central Station.” Then press “Search public transport.” Now it will check how you can travel by public transport from Jönköping Central Station to Gnosjö Kunskapscentrum, which is the closest stop to the entrance to Kävsjölänken.

Below you will see the results for departures in the next few hours for your selection.

If you click on one of the departures, you will get a more detailed overview of which bus or train lines and transfers you need to make.

Now all you have to do is choose how and when you want to travel to your hike.
