Värnamoleden stage V1 Mossle - Kärda - A part of Småland Trail

The Värnamo Trail is a stage of the Småland Trail and stretches between Kärda and Mossle on the outskirts of Värnamo city. Along the Värnamo Trail you will experience an exciting and varied landscape as you pass pine-covered bogs, deciduous forest, old cultural landscape, magical spruce forest and open agricultural landscape overlooking Lake Vidöstern. At Stomsjö Wetland you can look for birds.

Kärda

The community of Kärda is the western stop on the Värnamo Trail, where you can visit Kärda Church and Kärda Homestead Park, and there are barbecue areas in the community that you are welcome to use. From Kärda you can walk the Kärdaleden trail north towards Store Mosse National Park.

Värnaro outdoor area

The Värnamo Trail runs through the Värnaro outdoor area, which has several circular trails for hiking, cycling and horseback riding. There are also several uniquely designed shelters, barbecue areas and beautiful views of Sörsjön.

Ancient monuments

If you pay attention when hiking through Värnaro Friluftsområde, you can discover ancient remains such as fossilized fields. There are plenty of old abandoned farmlands with clearance cairns and stone walls. The area between Värnamo and Kärda is one of the most densely populated areas in Jönköping County.

Mossle

At Mossle you have a beautiful view of Lake Vidöstern, and here you can choose between hiking the Lagadalsleden trail south towards Åminne, Hånger and the community of Lagan, or you can hike the access trail via Osudden and Apladalen's idyllic homestead park towards Värnamo center.

Overnight stay

At Kvarndammen, 1.5 km east of Kärda, there are two shelters for overnight stays. It is also possible to spend the night in the Zenit shelter at Sörsjön, in the middle of Värnaro Friluftsområde. If you follow the access road into Värnamo town, you have several hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, hostels and campsites to choose from.
