Below, we have listed hiking trails and circular routes that pass through protected nature along the Smålandsleden.

Protected natural areas include national parks and nature reserves.

There are several hundred nature reserves. On this page we have listed those located along or with a short detour from the Smålandsleden trail.

Småland has four national parks. Store Mosse, Åsnen, Norra Kvill and Blå Jungfrun. However, only Store Mosse is crossed by the Smålandsleden trail, and it also features several loop trails. The other national parks have their own hiking routes that you can explore independently.

In Sweden, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency is the national authority responsible for protected natural areas. At the regional level, the County Administrative Boards manage nature conservation and administration. Municipalities can also designate protected areas.

In protected natural areas there are restrictions on the Right of Public Access. It is important to read the regulations for the specific nature reserve you are visiting.
