Holaveden was once feared for its highwaymen. The trail passes through a typical Småland forest landscape with scattered fields and lakes, many with wonderful views.

The trail starts at Hättebadens camping in Tranås and ends in Gränna — or vice versa. The trail passes through a typical Småland forest landscape with scattered fields and lakes and many wonderful views.

Near Tranås, the trail follows small forest roads, while closer to Gränna, you walk on small paths in more hilly terrain. The Holavedesleden trail connects to the John Bauerleden trail to the south at Gränna, and about 12 km before Gränna, there is a connection to the Anebyleden trail.
