Skärgårdsparken – A Place of Diversity

Along the Kalmarsund Trail, just south of Kalmar’s city center, at the junction with stages KS4/KS5, lies the popular outdoor recreation area Skärgårdsparken.

The focus here is on nature experiences, outdoor activities, and recreation, as well as good accessibility, outdoor education, nature play, and biodiversity. Thanks to the area’s rich natural environment and birdlife, it is popular among birdwatchers and hikers. The area is open to anyone who wants to enjoy nature and the outdoors.

Hiking

In the wetland area, there are gravel paths that are easy to navigate, with plenty of places to sit along the way. Other parts of Skärgårdsparken are more hilly, featuring varied natural scenery and scenic trails along the coast, through forests and pastures, as well as a couple of hills offering beautiful views of the archipelago.

The Ponds—a 2.5-kilometer walking loop with easy access between the tranquil ponds in the wetland area. Along the walk, which follows gravel paths, grass trails, and wooden bridges, there are several pavilions and picnic areas where you can settle in for a break with a lovely view.

The Pastures – a 3.5-kilometer walking loop through beautiful natural scenery, along the coastline and through wetlands, forests, and pastures. For much of the year, grazing animals can be found in parts of the pastures. The walking loop features uneven terrain with roots and rocks, as well as narrow paths in some sections.

Kullarna – is 4.5 kilometers long and the longest walking loop through Skärgårdsparken’s varied natural landscape, where you’ll also climb to a hilltop with a beautiful view of the Västra Sjön archipelago. In some sections, the loop has uneven terrain, narrow sections, and hilly stretches.
